We believe Jesus is inviting his people to rediscover amateur Christianity…

Amateur comes from amator, which is Latin for “lover”. In the life of a professional minister, duty and work often clouds our experience of God’s love and hinders our joy, like Martha in the kitchen. If, instead, we learn to take time to sit at Jesus’ feet like Mary, we can learn to love Jesus again with our whole selves and be filled with joy.

In learning to love with our whole selves, Jesus invites us to be captivated by his beauty (Psalm 27), drawn into his hospitality (John 15), and shaped by his community (John 14). We long for Athghin to be a place to taste and see that Jesus is near and good, to have the joy of our salvation renewed in community with others, and to learn to receive and practice the hope of resurrection again.

Why Now

This is a long obedience that begins with a home for the work. We are actively preparing to secure a property that can hold:

  • Family homes for residential staff and visiting ministry families

  • Spaces for prayer, meals, and shared life

  • Studios, gardens, and a small regenerative farm

  • Nature‑immersed stays through Stillpoint, our for‑profit subsidiary whose profits will gift‑aid back to the charity to help sustain the center

Establishing the site enables us to welcome our first guests and begin the daily work of sanctuary and regeneration.

How You Can Join Us

1) Property & Start‑Up Funding: Help us purchase and prepare the land and facilities that will anchor the community and welcome guests.

2) Prayer: Pray for wisdom, provision, and formation in the way of Jesus as we build.

3) Individual Support: Partner with our family and core team through ongoing monthly support so we can give ourselves fully to this work.

4) Join the Community: We are gathering a residential team—spiritual directors, operational and hospitality staff, farmers/horticulturalists, artists and craftspeople—who will live on site, raise partial or full support, and practice this shared life together. Apprenticeships, internships, and artist residencies will also be part of the life of the center.

Why Ireland

Ireland’s beauty is wild, weathered, and resilient; the greens here are made brighter by the grays. Formed by ancient mountains and a coastline shaped by relentless seas, it teaches us to wait for beauty in the midst of gloom. This is the kind of beauty we want to learn to wait for in others and in ourselves. God has made Ireland a fitting place to practice patient hope and to be formed by beauty, hospitality, and community.
